The Christchurch earthquakes will be discussed at an invitation-only presentation in Queenstown on Wednesday.
It will be funded by the Queenstown Lakes District Council and presented by Tonkin and Taylor.
Council infrastructure services team leader Sarah Thomson said Tonkin and Taylor was the Earthquake Commission's (EQC's) principal technical adviser on geotechnical engineering matters. It was providing the Government and the EQC with engineering services following the Darfield earthquake, which hit in September last year, and the Lyttelton earthquake on February 22.
Topics include scoping of the magnitude of the Darfield earthquake - the week following; land and house damage mapping and land treatment options; the proposed scope of ground treatment work; the anticipated reconstruction programme and co-ordination requirements between insurers, the EQC, councils and Government; and building standards.
A question and answer session will follow the hour-long presentation.
