A new luxury bed and breakfast near Luggate will feature on the Grand Designs television programme tomorrow.

A new home near Luggate will feature on the New Zealand version of the British programme Grand Designs tomorrow.

The two-storey straw-bale house is being built by Mike Hodges and Cathy Mann above State Highway 6, south of Queensberry.

The house features a curved roof and round walls with clay, lime and earth floors.

The Otago Daily Times spoke to the couple in a conference call with senior Mediaworks publicist Jeane Mowatt this week.

Mr Hodges said he was ''nervous'' anticipating the episode.

''We are not sure what is going to be presented, so obviously we are a bit nervous about some of the moments we have had.''

Ms Mann said they would watch the episode in the bus they were living in on the site.

''We are hoping we will get good download speed because we don't have a [television],'' she said.

Ms Mann said they were fans of the show, and had not been paid to be involved.

''We are building the house as a luxury B&B, so in terms of marketing, reaching such a wide audience is a great opportunity,''she said.

Mr Hodges said production of the episode had begun about 16 months ago.

''Every time they [Grand Designs] came, we got less nervous about it.''

He said filming for the show had prevented details of the build being shared with family and friends.

''It's been a bit difficult. We had a Facebook page going for friends and family which we had to close down to much disappointment, but obviously they understand things, so they are playing the game.''

Ms Mowatt said people could wait for the cost of the build to be revealed in the episode.

Whether the build was complete would also be revealed tomorrow night.

Ms Mann promised guests using the B&B could expect a ''very unique and upmarket''experience.
