Raising vegetables

Wanaka's "Dr Compost", Ben Elms, teaches Megan Palmer, of Queenstown, how to build a raised-bed vegetable garden during a community garden workshop on how to make organic vegetable gardens at the weekend.

The Harvest Community Garden hosted the workshop for Wakatipu residents at the Speargrass Flat Rd community garden.

Mr Elms taught about 15 participants two methods of building organic vegetable gardens - double-dig and raised-bed.

Proceeds from the workshop would be used on infrastructure for the community garden, including fencing and irrigation.
