Skaters will flip, pop and slide their way to local stardom at the "Summer Sk8 Sesh" in the Queenstown Gardens on January 22.
The competition is now in its second year and the best skateboarders battle it out at the Queenstown skate park for cash and gear prizes.
The event organiser, Summit youth worker Jacqui Moir, said the event was such a success last year it was decided to run this year's event using the same formula.
"The local youth decided they wanted ... a professional competition. It was such a success last year, we had to run it again," she said.
Open entry to the competition costs $10, and $5 for under 16s.
Funds raised would be used to fund community youth projects in the Queenstown Lakes district, she said.
Queenstown bar Revolver was providing three celebrity DJ's and several professional industry judges, Ms Moir said.
Pre-registration is open at Quest stores across the South Island until January 17, and skaters can also register on the day of the competition.
The smoke- and alcohol-free event starts at 10am on January 22.
