Skifield to run shuttle service

Treble Cone skifield will introduce a public transport system to and from its mountain facilities for the 2009 season.

The daily shuttle service to transport passengers up and down the skifield's access road will operate every morning and afternoon and will enable visitors to park and ride from the bottom of the skifield's 7km gravel access road to the resort's main building and ski area.

Treble Cone operations manager Sam Fulton said the service was an ideal solution for skifield visitors who had reservations about driving the ski area's mountain road.

Capable of carrying 10 passengers, the shuttles would run on a 45-minute turn around cycle, starting at 8.30am each day and departing the ski area from 2.30pm.

Other Wanaka-based transport services will continue to run shuttles, from Wanaka and Queenstown's main centres to the skifield and mountain.
