It was fun, not only for the pupils, their parents, and staff at Oanaka Preschool, but also for the Snowdrifta crew - a group of community-minded youth workers behind the "snow to the kids" initiative.
Wanaka men Dave Hawken and Tim Beaman started "Snowdrifta" last year and began delivering trailer loads of snow from Cardrona Alpine Resort to Upper Clutha preschools.
Oanaka head teacher Naomi Penty said pupils had been excited about the impending delivery of snow, after a great reception last year.
"It's been a talking point for months with the kids. It's amazing how many parents want to come down and play in it, as well," she said.
Mr Hawken and Mr Beaman were joined by six of their mates and supporters, including world-class adaptive snowboarder Carl Murphy, as they spent the morning delivering - then shaping - a mini snow slope in the preschool's backyard.
Mr Hawken said the snow delivery scheme had grown this year with Wanaka businesses Mitre 10 and McGregors helping out.
The Snowdrifta crew has already delivered snow to other preschools in Wanaka and there were "a couple more" planned for Hawea and Albert Town, he said.
Mr Beaman said the pair started the scheme to give children, "who might not be able to get up skifields and the mountains" a chance to play in the snow.
