Ten submissions on the planned Wanaka Sports Facility have been received by the Queenstown Lakes District Council following the second round of community consultation.
The council commissioned Global Leisure Ltd to complete a recreation planning study for the facility, to be located within the new Three Parks zone off State Highway 6.
A draft facilities report and concept design was produced following community consultation in July and August.
QLDC project manager Ken Gousmett said the sports facility steering group would meet this week to discuss the latest submissions on the draft report, before making changes based on that feedback.
The amended report would be ready for publishing on the QLDC website later this month.
"The draft report, we believe, reflected the community's values in that we haven't had submissions totally contrary to that.
"There are some points that we're picking up that we'll be reflecting in the final report," Mr Gousmett said.
Estimates of capital cost and operational and maintenance costs for the project would then be prepared for consideration during council's long-term planning between March and June next year.
"We would expect the Wanaka community to re-engage at that stage."
The focus for the Wanaka Sports Facility during the long-term planning process would be primarily on the project costs and the impact on rates.
Mr Gousmett said it was "not the end of the line, by any means" in terms of opportunities for the public to have their say.
"We will accept comments on design at any time.
"There's no moving forward with the next stage of design until we have confirmation of the project funding."
