Testing time coming for business team

The Otago Business Case competition team members will have their mettle tested when they head to Queenstown for the Otago Business School hosted Student Development Society (SDS) International Case Competition from Sunday to Friday.

The event has attracted seven teams from international universities which will compete with teams from five New Zealand universities.

The overseas teams are from the University of New South Wales, Queensland University of Technology, Shantou University, China, Nanyang University, Singapore, Fundação Getulio Vargas University, Brazil, Concordia University, Canada, and Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

The home teams hail from the University of Otago, Victoria University, Waikato University, University of Auckland and the Auckland University of Technology.

Teams of up to four students will be given a business problem to solve, anything from a company which needs help launching a product, or a company which is about to go into liquidation, to a company which has international connections but has not reached its full global potential.

Team members must devise a strategy which they present to a panel of judges. The best strategy wins the competition.

It will be the third time Otago has hosted an international business case competition.
