Top climber to speak

American mountain climber Kitty Calhoun will be the keynote speaker at the 12th New Zealand Mountain Film festival in Wanaka and Queenstown this year.

Ms Calhoun is considered one of the most accomplished female ice climbers and is a past winner of the American Alpine Club's prestigious Underhill Award.

She will be joined by other guest speakers Australian adventurer, author and film-maker Tim Cope; Kieran McKay, one of New Zealand's most accomplished cavers; Ellen Ashmore talking on pesticide residues in food; and Dr Mike Joy discussing the future of Central Otago waterways.

The talks, in Wanaka on July 4 and 6, and in Queenstown on July 10 and 11, will complement a line-up of world-class adventure films.
