Queenstown police are concerned about people trespassing at night on private boats and the historic steamship Earnslaw.
Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, on Sunday said individuals had untied rear lines on a private launch on Saturday night, which caused minimal damage when it struck the wharf.
Security lights from the boat were removed.
There had been three arrests in the past week of people charged with interfering with boats at wharves, Sgt Newell said.
A 21-year-old Gore man and a 20-year-old Invercargill woman were arrested for climbing on board a private boat on January 8 at 2.30am. Ten minutes earlier, an 18-year-old Invercargill man had been arrested for boarding the Earnslaw.
All three were granted diversion. The charge of being unlawfully on a ship under the Crimes Act carried a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
"People need to be aware they have no lawful right to be on these launches and if they are intoxicated and fall in the water there may not be anyone around to come to their aid."
Also at the weekend, six intoxicated men brawled directly outside the Queenstown police station on Sunday at 4.35am.
Sgt Newell said one man fell into Horne Creek outside the station and cut his head. He was treated by St John Queenstown ambulance officers and taken to the Lakes District Hospital. Police inquiries were continuing. .
After another fight, this time involving intoxicated Queenstown friends, two men aged 32 and 28 were arrested on Camp St outside the National Bank on Sunday at 1.40am.
A Queenstown man was charged with driving with a breath-alcohol level of 705mcg on Ballarat St on Saturday at 12.20am. Kingston firefighters helped with sandbagging when water affected Kingston Hotel and Holiday Park following heavy rain on Friday night.
Meanwhile, in Wanaka, there were reports of letterbox damage at properties on MacPherson St and Golf Course Rd sometime on Friday night and tagging at the Bremner Bay toilets on Saturday.
There was also a two-car collision, resulting from a U-turn beside the Mt Iron car park on State Highway 84 on Saturday.
No-one was injured.
Two men in their early 20s were arrested and charged with fighting in a public place, the Ardmore St lakefront, on Saturday, while a swimmer climbed on to a boat belonging to Lakeland Adventures, setting off a security alarm on Saturday.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested and charged with fraud (using someone else's identity card) and disorderly behaviour after being asked to leave the Mint Bar on Saturday night.
