The evocative aroma and flickering light from wood fire braziers along Buckingham St signalled the first in a series of winter twilight trading evenings among Arrowtown retailers on Thursday.

Residents and visitors enjoyed the ambience, toasted marshmallows and mulled wine, saw a cooking demonstration, listened to live music and took part in prize draws. They also browsed in shops.

Discover Arrowtown, soon to be the replacement name for the Arrowtown Promotion and Business Association, is promoting the village for apres-ski fun.

The evenings will continue every Thursday in August, from 5pm to 7pm.
