Temperatures in the mid-20s welcomed about 4000 revellers at the festival grounds at Robrosa Station in the Cardrona Valley.
About 7000 people are expected to welcome in the new year at the festival tonight.
Festival organiser Alex Turnbull said about 300 staff, including volunteers, would be on site throughout the festival.
"The weather has been great and is meant to last all weekend, so it’s shaping up to be a really awesome event."
