Queenstown’s Altitude Brewing’s opening a large cold-storage facility as an investment in beer quality, freshness and increased production levels.

At 37 Industrial Pl, the facility — christened ‘Pretty Big Chiller’ — is being opened by local MP Joseph Mooney next Friday.

Fresh off winning its unprecedented fourth champion brewery title at the 2026 Australian International Beer Awards, brewery founder Eliott Menzies explains “beer is a fresh product and it deserves to be treated that way”.

“Cold storage is one of the most important parts of maintaining hop character, flavour stability and overall beer quality from tank to glass.” — Philip Chandler
