Cruise (54) was photographed yesterday at Queenstown Airport, after he emerged from an Airbus helicopter.
A witness said Cruise and another man were "just looking at the helicopter for about 10 minutes, just yapping".
The US-registered helicopter was seen yesterday in different parts of the Wakatipu, including Kingston and Skippers Canyon.
Mission: Impossible film sets have been built in the Rees Valley and the Nevis Range. Cruise is thought to be filming in New Zealand for four weeks.
