Gemma Ross, an Arrowtowner who’s always giving back, is April’s ‘Good Egg’.

An initiative run by Queenstown’s Pavilion Bar & Kitchens, it recognises those doing good in the community.

Having raised as a single mother a son who’s now gone to uni, Ross says "it’s my turn to give back, and I really enjoy it".

She’s volunteer administrator for the Arrowtown Community Facebook page which has about 8000 followers — "I think we’ve created quite a good culture with it, there’s not too much naughty stuff that goes on".

About three years ago she co-founded the Arrowtown Knitting Club which has about 15 regulars and others who pop in and out.

Ross is also on the Arrowtown Village Association committee and bakes for Good Bitches Baking which distributes baking to those in need.

She comes from a very musical family but says "my skills lie more in knitting and the dance floor".

"Somebody’s got to start the dance floor for the band, so that’s my job."

People can nominate a ‘Good Egg’ via Pavilion’s Facebook page, ‘Pavilion Queenstown’.

Each month’s winner’s awarded a meal voucher and winners will be invited to a function at which an overall 2026 ‘Golden Egg’ will be announced.
