World’s top winter athletes up for the challenge

An invitation-only event featuring some of the world’s top winter sports athletes will be held at Cardrona Alpine Resort in September.

The Snow League World Challenge, founded by three-time Olympic gold medallist Shaun White, will start its second season at the Wānaka ski resort.

The event will run from September 18 to 20 and will showcase 16 elite athletes representing North America, Europe, Asia/Pacific, as well as an emerging talent squad called The Challengers.

Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston announced yesterday the event was receiving government backing as part of a $40 million events package. — Allied Media
