The first wave of cyclists sets off from Boyd Rd yesterday morning in the third annual Queenstown Park Station Open Day.

About 1000 cyclists took part in the recreational mountain-bike ride through the station, owned by the Porter families.

The trail took cyclists from Boyd Rd into the station, below the Remarkables mountain range, and beside the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers to Chard Farm, a distance of about 13.5km.

Food and drink stalls were set up at "midway beach", about 9km from the start.
