Queenstown’s Steamer Wharf will become 100% hospitality with the closing of its latest premises.

OK Gift Shop is being demolished and Pete Jefford’s Wolf Hospitality Group is replacing it with an Irish bar, to open about November.

OK Gift shop was the last retail shop in the building.

Wolf already owns three other Steamer Wharf venues — the adjacent Pub on Wharf, Pier and Boardwalk — and five other bars/restaurants — Brazz, The London, The Crown, Baja and Blue Kanu.

"I think there’s room for another pub offering in Steamer Wharf, and who doesn’t like an Irish pub?" Mr Jefford asked.

It joins two other CBD Irish bars, Pog Mahone’s and Morrison’s.

He said his Irish bar would look totally different from the OK Gift Shop’s Oamaru stone and glass frontage.

The fitout for the bar begins on July 1.
