Man in court after checkpoint drug bust

A Queenstown man will appear in court today on drugs charges after police found cocaine and methamphetamine in his vehicle on Saturday.

When the 29-year-old's vehicle was stopped at a drink-driving checkpoint on Robins Rd at 6pm, "evidence of drug use was observed", Sergeant Blair Duffy of Queenstown police said.

A search of the vehicle under the Search and Surveillance Act uncovered the drugs and utensils.

The man will appear in the Queenstown District Court today, and is expected to be remanded for two weeks while police investigate further.
