A runner is cheered on by supporters and skifield staff as he crosses the finish line in The Remarkables Road Run and Ride charity race on Sunday.

Runners and cyclists raised about $1500 for the Cancer Society during the charity race up the 13.5km access road to the Remarkables skifield.

Fifty participants, including four cyclists, took on the challenge. They had to cover more than 1300 vertical metres during the event.

The winner of the race was Ultimate Hikes guide manager Tony Phillips.

The Remarkables is now offering guests the option of donating a minimum of $20 to the Cancer Society at any of its booking outlets.

Staff will also be collecting from guests with Cancer Society pales to mark Daffodil Day on Friday.
