The art work was set up for a preliminary site test at the Ardmore St park, ahead of a formal decision about where it will eventually be placed on the lakefront green.
The sculpture - a work by artist Rebecca Rose - was bought by the trust for $30,000 in May.
The original art work consisted of five 2m-tall steel sculptures made from cut steel patterns welded together and was previously on display at Rippon Vineyard's sculpture trail.
The trust bought three of the cone-like pieces and each one would be permanently installed at Bridgeman Green, with internal base lights, which would project patterns on to nearby surfaces, trust liaison officer Carrick Jones said.
