The 136sq m, single-storey building will have seven beds, including two for acute patients.
It will be located across from the skifield’s base building, in the VIP car park below Curvey Basin. It will also be next to an existing emergency helipad for quick evacuations, and have road and snow access.
NZSki chief executive Paul Anderson said the building would replace facilities in the former base building, which was demolished last year.
"It’s a very important build for us to make sure we’ve got space for our patrollers and also a space for our medical services.
"It’s pretty much what we had in the old building, just updated, more modern."
It had been designed by Michael Wyatt, the Queenstown architect who designed the skifield’s "magnificent" base building, which opened in 2015.
About 350cu m of earth would be removed from behind the centre to allow access for snow groomers.
The company has been granted land use consent by the Queenstown Lakes District Council and consent by the Otago Regional Council to divert a stream for foundation work.
The council report concluded: "The proposal sits amongst existing skifield base facilities and is therefore not considered to be an inappropriate use or development or significantly adversely affect the remaining natural character of the Rastus Burn."
NZSki has undertaken to replant indigenous vegetation and relocate any rare or threatened species identified by an ecologist.
The layout will include two medical rooms, one of which will be for acute patients, an office and work room, a reception area, staff locker room and toilet.
