The hotels, to be built on Gorge Rd sites within 100 metres of each other, will add a combined 437 rooms to the resort's accommodation capacity.
In a media statement, the company said today the Swiss-Belhotel & Residences Queenstown would be a 4.5-star property consisting of hotel rooms and furnished residences, while Zest By Swiss-Belhotel would offer lower-cost accommodation targeting younger travellers.
The company's president, New Zealander Gavin Faull, said its six-year presence in the resort had given it a good sense of what visitors demanded.
"The time felt right to expand our offering in the region and launch two new hotel brands that haven't previously been available in New Zealand.
"These new hotels will offer something completely different to each other, giving visitors more options to choose from when staying in the scenic town.''
Swiss-Belhotel & Residences will have 194 rooms and 32 apartments with either one or two bedrooms.
The Zest property would have 223 rooms, 160 "pods'', communal bathrooms and large social facilities.
