Farm owner Steve McArthur said the raspberry-picking season, which starts in December, had begun more quietly this year, and production had not peaked until this week; a week later than last year.
Several days of cooler-than-hoped-for weather in October had reduced bee pollination of the raspberry plants, slightly delaying peak production.
The recent hot weather had helped ripening, and picking was expected to continue until mid to late January.
Despite the slower start, Mr McArthur expected the farm's overall raspberry production to match last year's.
The farm produces a wide range of berries between October and May, and the raspberries are also used in ice-cream sold through the farm's roadside shop on the Outram-Mosgiel Rd, near the Outram bridge.
