Timaru Bowling Club held its first winter tournament recently, with 22 teams from Oamaru, Ashburton, Temuka, Geraldine, West End, Pleasant Point, Fairlie and Timaru taking part.
Each team played eight ends and two games before lunch and one after.
After three games two teams had three wins.
Margaret Burridge's team of Neil Kingston and Neville Carter from Geraldine with 38pts and 11 ends won, and close behind was Bob Belcher's team of Terry O'Connor and John Cassie from Fairlie with 30pts and 16 ends.


In third was Ken Darby's Temuka team of Richard Antsey and Michelle Darby, with two wins, one draw and 27pts with 13 ends won.
Fourth was Brian Rae's team of Jude Boyle and Alex Swain, of Timaru, with two wins, 37pts and 15 ends won.
Unlucky were Russell Gibson's team who had no wins, but took home their entry fee money.
Other winners were: Jude Boyle, Graeme Hasis, Caroline Marshall, Marilyn Velenski, Janice Williams, Yan van Valkengoed, Raewyn Crowe, Graeme Harris, Wendy Smith, Lyn Wilkie and Shirley Kingan.
