Mrs Munro, who farms Wairewa Station with her husband Philip, received 8890 votes, 1410 more than Mr Douglas in the recent elections.
The return percentage was 38.92%.
The couple have been farming for 32 years, supplying lambs under contract to CMP.
Wool from their Romney-cross ewes was used to cover tennis balls used in the 2006 US Tennis Open.
Mrs Munro is overseas on a pre-arranged holiday, but said in a statement that she wanted to see the levy-funded body improve communication with farmers, while showing strong leadership.
She joins another newly elected female director from the recent elections, Kirsten Bryant, of the Western North Island electorate.
The return percentage was 25.25%.
