$25,500 grant to help with job project

Completely overwhelmed by  the global interest in the Kaitangata house and land package deal, Clutha Development has been given $25,500 by the Clutha District Council to help with a six-month project to match job applicants with jobs in the district.

Clutha Development chief executive Linda Moore appealed to the council yesterday for funding so the company could establish systems and processes to "facilitate recruitment opportunities" in the Clutha district.

The application for the funding was originally intended to be submitted in September, but Mrs Moore asked for a decision to be made earlier as the group wanted to move quickly to match applicants to jobs.

Clutha Development was prioritising about 200 applications from New Zealand and Australia as those people were already eligible to start work in the district.

There were still another 648 applications worldwide, which the group was working through.

The council approved the decision to grant the $25,500 from its general reserves to help  Clutha Development with the inquiries it was receiving.
