Arches manager Seth O’Neill encourages everyone to come and see the new facility.

Located at the intersection of Clyde and Renfrew Sts, Arches replaces the long-standing Hotel South Otago, known locally as The Southy and will be open for business very soon.

Mr O’Neill said the new facility offered something different for the region.

"What we’re trying to do is offer a new experience to Balclutha and beyond — a nice dining experience, almost fine-dining, but not quite," he said.

"We hope to present a point of difference with a strong focus on good food and good service, creating a nice, welcoming environment that makes people comfortable and want to book with us again.

"We’ve taken particular care in hiring staff that are warm and friendly, helping to create a cohesive and good environment for everyone who walks through our door."

He hoped the food, drinks and ambience would create a fun and relaxing atmosphere for a variety of people.

"There’s room for 120 people inside the facility and 60-80 outside.

"The bar is pure Heineken offering premium beers on tap, premium spirits, and a range of new bottled products that have recently come into New Zealand.

"There are tiger towers [tall jug with a tap] that can go out to groups of people.

"There is also a cocktail list and a very small, supervised area.

"We’re not a sports bar but there is an option to watch a game on the big screen."

The kitchen will offer lunch, dinner and all-day snack and share options, with choices available for those with dietary requirements including gluten free, dairy free and vegan meals.

An accessible and affordable children’s menu will also be available.

There will also be a daily breakfast special available and really good coffee, aimed at business people on the go.

"We’re not a full-blown cafe, but we wanted to ensure we have good coffee and nice food on the go for those wanting something on the way to work."

Mr O’Neill said the team had already received bookings for small events and encouraged those interested in booking to get in quick.

"Arches really is a nice place to be.

"Come in and have a look. We look forward to welcoming you."
