Three judges have been announced for a wearable arts competition in Tapanui in May.
The ''Fashion Fantazia'' competition will be held in the West Otago Community Centre on May 24.
Landscape artist and owner of Gallery 65 in Tuatapere Wayne Edgerton, exhibitions manager of the Eastern Southland Gallery Marcella Geddes, of Gore, and Gore High School head of soft technology Robyn Hicks will judge the event.
Fashion Fantazia is run by a group of four West Otago residents under the banner Strong Black Coffee Productions.
Co-organiser Jann Robertson said the event was inspired by a visit to the World of WearableArts (WOW) awards in Wellington.
She is working with husband Antony and friends Liesl and Marty Grounds to run the event. There are five categories in the open section, and three for primary and secondary school children.
Both open and children's sections have industrial, Kiwiana, and recycled categories, with avant garde and ''upcycling'' in the open.
Entries for the upcycling category - in which a garment is supplied by the organisers and must be upcycled into a new garment - had closed to allow time for garments to be sent so they can be redesigned. All other entries close tomorrow.
Prizes range from $100 to $300 for category winners, with the overall winner being awarded $500.
Kristy Mearns, of Gore, will be the show's choreographer, and Queenstown performer Margaret O'Hanlon and comedian Mike Legge will be the comperes.
Tickets for the show are on sale from Monday.
