Kaia Anderson (11) escapes the cold clutches of the ocean at the Kaka Point midwinter swim yesterday.
Entrants donned as little as swimming trunks through to well-insulated full body wetsuits, while others braved the waters in their onesie pyjamas.
Kaka Point Surf Life Saving Club member Doug Henderson said the weather was "just right'' for the 2pm event and he was happy with the turnout.
Mr Henderson said he entered in the mid-winter swim every year, as did most members of the Surf Life Saving Club.
A sausage sizzle was held afterwards and there were spot prizes for least dressed, longest stay and best costume.
