The search in and along the Clutha River for a missing Balclutha man was wound down yesterday, with police appealing once again for any information about the 55-year-old, who has been missing since Sunday.
Michael John Dippie did not turn up for work on Monday morning and has not been seen or heard from for the past few days.
Sergeant Martin Bull, of Balclutha, said search and rescue teams began searching in and along the Clutha River from 3pm on Wednesday until yesterday afternoon. He asked anyone who had seen Mr Dippie between Saturday night and Monday morning to contact the police.
"The investigation is still ongoing, but we're running out of places to look and need the public's help."
Search teams combed the river and its bank yesterday from the Balclutha bridge downstream to the railway bridge, around Clydevale, and near the Clydevale Bridge.
Sgt Bull said there had been no recent activity on Mr Dippie's cellphone or bank account.
Police were still seeking information on Mr Dippie's car after it was moved from Elizabeth St to Ipswich St between 9pm on Sunday and noon on Monday.
The car is a blue Honda Integra, registration TW8942.
A silver bicycle was found on the riverbank and police were keen to hear from its owner or anyone who might know to whom it belonged.
Concerned friends and family reported Mr Dippie missing this week. He is described as a tall European male with short black hair, and is 55 years old.
Anyone with information about Mr Dippie should telephone Balclutha police on (03) 418-0203.
