Sausage sizzle gives back

Korban Craigie (10) is given a free sausage by Renee Thompson at the Catlins Area School yesterday as part of a "give back to the community" by local business owners.

Hillview Camp Site co-owner Kevin Boam said he received donations from working at the camping ground.

Instead of giving the donations away to someone he did not know or keeping the donations for himself, he decided to put on a sausage sizzle for children at the local school.

He and his wife Susan, with the help of Ms Thompson, gave out almost 140 burgers and 100 sausages.

"When we’re here, they soon queue up."

This was the second time Mr and Mrs Boam had put on the sizzle for the children.He was impressed with how well-mannered the children were.
