Clutha residents will be sad to see a passionate, involved member leave the district.

Irene Mosley has been involved with more than 15 groups and projects, including Plunket, Project Clutha, and the South Otago Youth Trust. Mrs Mosley has taken up a job in Dunedin, working on a project for the Neurological Foundation and has moved to the Taieri area.

"I'm sad to go but I'll be around," she said.

Mrs Mosley received the Orangi Kaupapa Trust award in 2004, and life memberships of the Toy Library Federation of New Zealand and the Balclutha Toy Library. She is perhaps best known for her work as Balclutha community co-ordinator, ending her five-year role in 2008.

Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan thanked Mrs Mosley for more than 20 years of active involvement in the district.

"We will miss you and we owe you a great deal." Despite not being a member, Mrs Mosley was recognised by the Rotary Club of Balclutha with a Paul Harris fellowship at a recent meeting.

The club also awarded Fergus McKenzie a Paul Harris fellowship.
