Storage shed destroyed in Kaitangata fire

Firefighters from Kaitangata and Balclutha battle a blaze that destroyed a storage shed and neighbouring vegetation at a home in Kaitangata yesterday morning.

The crews were called to the incident after smoke was spotted by a neighbour shortly after 10am.

Kaitangata Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dwayne Thompson said they arrived at the Christchurch St property to find a ``totally involved'' fire.

``Thanks to a quick response, the incident was dealt with safely. There was no damage to neighbouring homes, and no members of the public were endangered.''

Mr Thompson said investigations into the cause of the fire would continue.
