The pool had cost more than $4 million when it was reopened after refurbishment in September 2012, but since then it has had problems.
It is hoped that the work done during this year's shutdown - which will last four weeks instead of the usual two - will fix the water heating problems the pool has faced.
An independent review in May identified issues that needed to be remedied for a problem-free pool, Clutha District Council manager of corporate services Alan Dickson said yesterday.
The work, through a local contractor, is expected to cost between $10,000 and $20,000.
''Many in the public are frustrated with the ongoing issues that seem to keep arising down at the swimming pool and they hope that this will see a resolution to the issues,'' Mayor Bryan Cadogan said.
He said he could understand the public's frustration and he hoped to see a resolution after the remedial work was done to the pool.
''We're waiting with interest,'' Mr Cadogan said.
''I'll be keeping a keen eye on the outcome.''
