Veterinary resignations

South Otago's oldest veterinary surgeon practice, Clutha Vets, has had several resignations recently, including the chairman of the board Peter Allison.

Mr Allison resigned last week and has been replaced by Garth Shaw.

Mr Shaw confirmed he was the new chairman but neither he nor Mr Allison would comment further.

The Otago Daily Times understands six veterinary surgeons - four from Balclutha and two from Milton - have also tendered their resignations from the practice, although attempts are being made to work through the issues so they would not have to resign.

The practice, which celebrated its centenary in 2008, employs 16 veterinarians.

Attempts to contact the company's chief executive, Meredith MacKenzie, yesterday were unsuccessful.
