Invercargill was already a target for Radius Care’s expansion before aged care facility Clare House came on the market.

Director Brien Cree said he had identified Invercargill as a place to expand the business because of growth predictions.
‘‘We have been looking for a while down there.
‘‘I’ve been down a few times to look at vacant land.’’
However, when the opportunity came up to purchase Clare House, he jumped at it.
‘‘It was just a good opportunity, instead of buying land and having to start from scratch.’’
The Auckland-based company took over the business on Monday with all staff remaining, he said.
The Invercargill business will add to Radius’ already extensive care home portfolio.
Mr Cree started Radius Care 18 years ago and now has residential homes in Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru, Dunedin and throughout the North Island.
Included in the purchase are 69 care beds in a purpose-built aged care complex. The village part of the property has studio units, serviced apartments and independent villas.
Two adjoining properties, 71 and 83 Durham St, are also included. The residential property at 83 Durham St is being refurbished to become an independent villa unit. The adjoining 71 Durham St will be used for future development.
