It might have been the most terrifying night of her life but it was also the one that brought the most delight to young Gore songbird Jenny Mitchell, who will sing on Sunday in the final of New Zealand's Got Talent.

The St Peter's College pupil received the most votes in her semifinal last Sunday night

and automatically progressed to the final.

The 12 acts which were voted into the final will battle it out on Sunday night. Jenny, who is 14, appeared in the first show of the series.

Her parents, Ron and Julie Mitchell, said they were extremely proud of their daughter and her success so far in the show.

Mrs Mitchell added Jenny was also pleased with the results - ''of course''.

''She was absolutely delighted.''

It was probably the most terrifying night of Jenny's life but it was also the most exciting, Mrs Mitchell said.

''She was overwhelmed with the support.''

Southland had really got behind Jenny, Mrs Mitchell said.

The young singer had visited several schools in Gore as well as one in Invercargill and got a ''fantastic'' response from pupils.

Jenny left Gore early on Monday in ''really high spirits'' to travel back to the North Island to work on her finals performance. A team of 14 would be supporting her in the final.
