Vandals trash buildings

Several Invercargill business owners discovered yesterday morning they had been the victims of extensive vandalism.

Some arrived at their businesses to find smashed windows.

Flip'N Fun trampoline park owner John Smart said the damage to his new building was worth at least $12,000, and with the business due to open within weeks, repairs had begun.

''They've thrown rocks so hard that they've actually embedded themselves in the gib board, gone through two windows upstairs ... it's just phenomenal,'' he said.

Police said a ''significant'' amount of damage had been done to properties throughout Invercargill between 3am and 8am.
