Dance Wanaka is having their annual Dance Off this Sunday with students from their Wanaka and Cromwell studios performing.
The show will play host to dancers of all ages from the preschool classes with students aged only 3 years old all the way up to the advanced classes with 18-year-old students.
Studio manager Anna Thomas said unlike the end-of-year show, the mid-year performance did not follow a storyline but was more focused on letting the students showcase what they had learnt so far.
"It’s a bit more show-and-tell what’s been going on in the studios," Ms Thomas said.
"It’s a great way for parents and family to come watch and also for dancers to get some performance experience."
The show is also diverse in the type of dance on display with everything from jazz and ballet to contemporary, tap and musical theatre.
Ms Thomas said after more than 13 years the show was now split into two showcases with the older students getting the opportunity to perform later in the afternoon in preparation for their upcoming assessments.
"It’s also a good chance for them to polish their work and learn to perform and smile and engage the audience while they’re dancing."
Tickets are on sale and part of the profits will go towards the senior dance troupe’s upcoming trip to Palmerston North for the national troupe competition in October.
The showcase will take place at the Lake Wanaka Centre with the Junior Display starting at 1pm and the senior display at 3pm.
