Hawke’s Bay sheep and beef farmer Bruce Wills has been elected chairman of Ravensdown.
The former Federated Farmers national president was excited about the co-operative’s recently evolved strategy of sharpening its focus on improving farmers’ and growers’ environmental and productive performance.
Mr Wills was voted in as a director in 2015, working closely with John Henderson, who has been a director since 2004 and chairman since 2014.
Mr Wills was awarded the Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit last year for services to agriculture and the environment.
He is also chairman of the Primary Industries Training Organisation, the QEII National Trust, ApicultureNZ and the deer industry primary-growth partnership.
He acknowledged the "incredible" work of Mr Henderson, who had been scheduled to retire before being
asked by his fellow board members to continue for a further 12 months to provide continuity as new CEO Garry Diack took the helm.
