Team members Kate McGregor, Julie Fleury, Linda Suddaby and Janet Mauheni won the Golf Southland title earlier this month at the Winton Golf Club.
Twelve clubs from throughout the region entered the tournament.
The teams were divided into pairs and teed off against the pair of another club.
Queens Park captain Linda Suddaby said her team played against Waikaka, who usually either won the tournament or finished runner-up.
The team was not overawed by the Waikaka club’s past performance in the tournament.
"The funny thing is we went out on the course and I just said to that lady I was playing with, ‘if we do nothing else today, we are going to beat these girls’."
The other Queens Park pair said the same to each other, Suddaby said.
"We don’t care if we win it or not.
"We just want to beat Waikaka and we just managed to do that really nicely."
In the format of the tournament the best individual score of the pair was counted at the end of each hole.
The Queens Park players worked well as a team and if one did not play so well on one hole, the other did.
"We just gelled together."
No-one knew when the club last won the event, she said.
"We can’t remember ever Queen’s Park winning it, so for us it’s quite a thrill to be able to win it for our club."
The team’s score would be sent to Golf New Zealand who will gather the results of the regions and find the national winner.
