Four Gore clothing shops have made space in their windows to publicise a Woman of the Year competition, while raising awareness for ovarian cancer.

Soroptimist International are promoting their Woman of the Year competition in the storefronts of Collective Design, The Merino Story, Apt Collections and Caroline Eve.

Soroptomist Gore secretary Anne Gover expressed gratitude for the support given by the Main St shops, which also feature posters informing onlookers of the cancer research.

Funding research into the disease is the national project of Soroptimist International Aotearoa, and the "Heal the Teal" tea towels on view further represent that cause.

The awards dinner will be held at the Gore RSA function room next Tuesday, October 14, at 6.30pm, tickets are available at Country Living.

The nominees this year are Karen Bellew, Barbara Hanna, Annie Nelson, Christine O’Connor and Evelyn Sutherland. The winner will be announced on the night.

"Make sure you purchase a ticket to support these women who make such a valuable contribution in our district," Mrs Gover said.
