And even better for a production the first solver of the mystery will get a prize.
The Southern Districts Art Trust is putting on the production Murder at the Music Hall at the end of the month and a good night should be had by all.
The performances are on November 29 and the following night at the Tokanui Hall.
Director Marylyn Hayes said production had been going well with a cast of about 20, and all up 32 people were involved in the production.
‘‘We have got people from all over the district — school teachers, musicians, contractors — a bit of talent from everywhere,’’ she said.
The trust puts on a show every second year and there was plenty of excitement for the production.
‘‘We have had an injection of fresh blood and they bring a bit of enthusiasm for the show.
‘‘It is just southerners, people from the Tokanui area.
‘‘There is some hidden talent here.
‘‘We have got a musical chorus this year and they are coming together really well.
‘‘We have some amazing singers in there.
‘‘We have a fantastic cast who have been working hard.’’
The production is set in the 1920s in the Tokanui area and revolves around a death at a musical theatre where everyone becomes a suspect.
As it is a mystery there will be a competition for the audience to guess who is the murderer.
The first person to correctly pick who did the deadly deed will win a prize.
Mrs Hayes said the competition was another part of the night and though she said it would not be too hard to pick who the murderer is, it would bring another brand of fun to the production.
Rehearsals have been going since the start of October and Mrs Hayes said plenty of hard work was taking place.
She said it was a lot of fun and that was the main reason most people took part.
There will be a light supper after both shows and a bar will be in operation. Tickets are available at iTICKET.
A few tickets had sold but there were still plenty available, she said.
