The Netball Eastern Southland MLT premier league teams finished 28-all on Saturday.
The teams drew the first quarter 9-all, Ex High won the second 9-5, St Peter’s took the third quarter 8-1 and Ex High came back in the fourth 9-6.
St Peter’s coach Myma Eichstaedt said the game was "brilliant".
"The girls went out and played some very good netball."
Four of the players had returned from an under-18 tournament and she knew they would be tired.
She said to them ‘No pressure, just go out and play some good netball and have some fun’.
In the third quarter the team’s defence played a "blinder", keeping the ball out of the Ex High shooting circle.
It was a team effort and she could not single out any player who stood out.
Two weeks earlier in the last round of the competition, Ex High won 39- 24.
Ex High coach Colleen Bond said the third quarter was where "we lost the game".
"When you look at the third quarter it was appalling."
She was pleased the team did not stop working when St Peter’s took the lead in the third quarter and were four goals up part way through the fourth quarter.
Ashleigh Smith, who played goal attack and goal defence, had a good game.
Goal defence Dana Bond worked hard in the fourth quarter to gain turnover ball.
