A Gore theatre group has secured $10,000 funding from the Mataura Licensing Trust (MLT) which will help it run events, including some at St James Theatre, until the end of next year.

Gore Musical Theatre Group’s sponsorship and funding officer Jason Harvey , right, pictured with MLT chief executive Glenn Dickson inside the St James, said over the next 18 months, the funding would help support three shows at the theatre as well as two theatre-restaurant productions at the Gore Town & Country Club stadium.

The boost was the "most significant amount" MLT had given the group in the past few years, Mr Harvey said.

It was "a great relief" to get the cash injection as it would help pay for scripts and advertising.
