English (15) broke the record in the girls under-16 3000m at the Otago-Southland secondary schools athletics championships.
She was 40sec in front of Hannah Miller (Southland Girls') and broke the 2008 record by 5sec with her time of 10min 20.87sec.
It was 9sec faster than the time of her sister, Sian English (Columba), who won the senior girls title in 10min 29.06sec.
A head wind put records out of the question for the 1500m later in the day.
But Hanna English still put her stamp on the race and won by a massive 1min 10sec from Grace Buckingham (Southland Girls') in 5min 03.94sec.
Sister Sian sprinted the last lap in 63sec to win the senior girls title in 4min 53.45sec from school-mate Charlotte Cahill (4min 55.54sec).
Sam Bremer (Kavanagh College) took off at the bell and ran the last 400m in 55sec to win the senior boys 1500m in 4min 18.17sec. Bremer also used his finishing speed to win the 3000m in 9min 11.17sec from Joe Beamish (John McGlashan, 9min 20.83sec).

Christina Ashton (Queen's) won the girls under-16 80m hurdles in 12.17sec from Maddy Spence (Columba, 12.32sec). She beat the 2004 record by 0.14sec. Ashton also won the 100m in 13.38sec.

Yvonne van Baarle (Blue Mountain) broke her own record in the girls under-14 javelin by a huge 5.25m with her throw of 32.07m.
The Columba College senior girls 4x100m relay team of Analise Cowie, Laura Saville, Zoey Flockton and Maddy Spence beat a 23-year-old record in a time of 50.14sec.
The Otago Boys' 4x400m relay team of Mike McKay, Chris McNoe, Sam Watson and Zak Watt broke a 1991 record in the boys open relay with 3min 32.59sec.
The St Hilda's girls under-15 4x100m relay team of Hayley Shallard, Aria Park, Caitlin Kenny and Caitlyn George broke a 21-year-old record with 52.56sec.
The John McGlashan boys under-15 4x100m team of Harry Rodger, Guillaume Bennani, Spencer Byers and Rory Ferguson broke a 1997 record with 47.11sec.
Felix McDonald (King's) won the boys under-15 long jump with a leap of 6.01m. It equalled the record that Peter Cox (Otago Boys') jumped in 1997 but could not be recognised because it was marginally over the allowable wind limit.
