He also reached the semifinals in the 400m at the world junior track and field championships in Barcelona.

Robinson's coach, Raylene Bates, was named the Otago coach of the year. She was coach of the New Zealand paralympic team at London. The top male winter athlete was Peter Meffan (Caversham) for winning the Otago senior men's road and cross-country titles and finishing third at the New Zealand road race championships. The top female winter athlete was Rachel Kingsford (Hill City-University) for finishing fourth at the New Zealand senior women's cross-country and fourth in the national road race championships.
Deidre Helm won the Sport Otago Trophy for her contribution to Otago athletics.
