The New Zealand four of Jamie Hill, Shayne Sincock, Shannon McIlroy and Lawson has been suspended from the New Zealand Commonwealth Games squad until after the judicial hearing.
The New Zealand four has been accused of deliberately losing a match against Thailand 17-15 at the Asia and Pacific championships in Malaysia two months ago.
Lawson has hotly denied accusations his fours team deliberately lost the match to get a more favourable post-section draw.
He is upset his team has been put into a position where it has to prove its innocence.
"It is well publicised what I think," Lawson said before the start of the Speight's-sponsored North East Valley Invitation singles in Dunedin yesterday.
"Once the hearing starts people will have a better perspective of what happened.
"I just want the hearing held. It's ridiculous that it has got to this stage. But we have just got to go with the flow to see what happens."
Lawson has had a lot of support from people throughout New Zealand.
"They feel that an injustice has been done to us," he said.
"We know that people don't think we are cheats."
When the accusations first surfaced a month ago Lawson became angry and sent an email to Bowls New Zealand stating that he was not available for next year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
It was a spur of the moment reaction he now regrets and he has reconsidered his position and could make himself available.
Lawson (44), a double gold medallist at World Bowls in Christchurch last year, would be a valuable asset for the New Zealand team.
"I'll see what happens at the hearing," he said.
"I still have a desire to play for New Zealand."
Lawson, who first played for the Black Jacks in 1989, would like to defend his World Bowls pairs and fours titles in 2012.
"It is always nice to defend your title," he said.
"But it is a long way away and I've played over 300 games for New Zealand and am happy with what I've done. I've had a great international career."
He is more concerned about his team-mates.
"They are at the early stages in their international careers and have a lot to offer New Zealand bowls," Lawson said. "My concern is to get their careers back on track. They are now getting a bit disillusioned."
Canada, which put in the initial complaint and was backed by the World Bowls executive, believes Lawson's team manipulated the result to give it a more favourable post-section draw.
Over the past 12 months, Lawson has won national titles in the Pathways fours and was a member of the Eastbourne club's winning inter-centre team.
On the international scene, he was a member of the New Zealand team that beat Australia 3-0 in the transtasman series in Brisbane, he won a silver medal in the pairs with Jamie Hill (Auckland) at the Asia and Pacific Bowls in Malaysia and reached the quarterfinals in the fours.
Lawson's goal for the domestic season is to win a New Zealand championship gold medal in the pairs or the fours to equal the record of 10 titles held by the late Nick Unkovich.
