Uni Grange 146 lost to Albion
148 for five by five wickets

Former Otago player Andrew Hore made an impact for University Grange, but it was not enough to give the combined side a win against Albion at Bishopscourt on Saturday.

University Grange batted first and limped through to 146, being all out on the penultimate ball of the 50th over.

Hore was the main contributor, hitting 69 after coming in at first drop. He batted well for the side and shared a 57-run partnership with Usman Shah.

But the tail did not wag for the side, and Tommy Clout picked up four wickets for Albion.

Taylor Cumberland, who had scored a century in the T20 final win on Friday night, again did well with 64, guiding Albion almost to the target.

Charlie Marsh notched an unbeaten 37.

The Albion side won the match in the 35th over.

Taieri 174 lost to Kaikorai
175 for five by five wickets

When the leading run-scorer in your side is batting at number nine, then chances are a high score is not going to be likely. That was the case for Taieri on Saturday as it took on Kaikorai at Brooklands.Batting first, Taieri managed 174 before being dismissed in the 59th over.The side’s top six all got some sort of start but did not kick on, as Joe Gregan picked up a five-wicket bag.

When skipper Jack Hunter went, the side was eight down for just 126. But Warren Barnes came in and hit a few nice shots to give the Taieri score a boost. Barnes was not out on 47 when the last wicket fell, having combined with Brad Frost for 48 runs for the ninth wicket.

Kaikorai put together a decent chase and got a good 43 from Rhys Bayly, while Scott Hunter made 40.

But former St Kentigern College first XI captain Fergus Ellis won the game for Kaikorai with an undefeated 62. He had arrived in Dunedin on Friday night and made himself available, which was a bonus for Kaikorai.

Jack Hunter swung the ball well while Barnes showed some pace on his return from injury.

Carisbrook Dunedin 171 lost to NE Valley
172 for two by eight wickets

Carisbrook Dunedin was the third team on Saturday to bat first and end up on the losing side.

At home at Tonga Park, Carisbrook-Dunedin lost its first thee wickets before the score had reached 40. Max Chu and Jack Pryde came together, though, and constructed a 73-run partnership to get the side back on track.

But no-one else could contribute in the lower order as Corey Perrett did well to pick up a five-wicket bag in 11 overs. Carisbrook Dunedin was dismissed for 171 in the final ball of the 50th over.

Kurt Johnson took a couple of wickets at the start of the North East Valley innings, but that was as good as it got for the home side.

Hunter Kindley with 73 and Tom Griffin with 61 combined for a 138-run unbeaten stand to win the game for the Valley side, getting across the line in the 27th over.

That was the last round of declaration cricket.
